How is everyone this morning? I hope you are all well and at peace on this birthday of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I don’t know about any of you, but I am tired. I had an incredible great Christmas Eve. I made yummy food, missing one ingredient, and went to friends of mine and we had dinner and then The Polar Express movie with hot chocolate and lots of commentary from the peanut gallery of one, ha ha.
I did not get home until nearly 1 a.m. and then it was time, in the quiet of my house, to celebrate the reason for Christmas, the birthday of Jesus Christ.
Happy Birthday Jesus! Thank You for loving us, Lord, and for helping us to discover peace in our hearts. That is the best gift anyone can ever receive.
The other gifts
I spent a few hours after I got home celebrating and bringing Jesus a few gifts. And let me tell you, shopping for the Man who has everything is no easy task. I had earlier in the week created a nice long-distance present for a friend and it took some creativity and some luck to get the gift just right, and so I certainly wanted to create a gift for Jesus, as it is His birthday after all.
It took me a few days to figure out what to do. My cousin had sent me a Joyce Meyer link and in this video she used an example of waving a white flag to surrender to the Lord, because seriously, it is a constant surrender battle. I thought, it is kind of late to try to find a white flag, but then I realized that the skirting around the tree in my Faith room was white, so I used it as my white flag.
Gift one: Okay, Lord, I surrender … again.
Then I thought like the Wise Men. I brought down my rosary box, which is filled with my rosaries, my rings and a couple of beloved cat collars.
Gift two: Gold and silver
I have a yummy smelling candle called Christmas Cookies. Candles were, and still are, essential back then.
Gift three: A candle
And I remembered I have oils and was hoping for both myrrh and frankincense. I have the myrrh and I picked out geranium to go with the myrrh.
Gift four: Oils
A prayer
My prayer for all of you today is that you fully feel and understand the reason for Christmas. It is an awesome season for feel-good activities and gestures, and that is great and I wish life were like this more often, but do not forget the reason for this season.
It is Jesus’ birthday, not ours. Treat Him on His birthday as you would like to be treated on yours.
Bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas and extra safe New Year. See you in 2018.
